From Motor Hotel to Destination

Proof that a mid-century motor lodge can become a destination in its own right.

This renovation shows how the same road-trip-era buildings found in trail towns everywhere can be reactivated with the food, gathering space, and updated guest rooms today’s outdoor travelers look for, without losing the character that makes them worth stopping for.

The project transformed a 1960s motor hotel into a hub for the Lloyd district on Portland’s inner east side, adding a rooftop restaurant and bar, ground floor cafe, lounge, and remote workspaces, plus fully renovated guest rooms that honor the motor hotel era.
